3D traffic situation for question 1

1. Thick fog has set in and you can only see about 60 metres. What best suits your driving?

Explanation: Your speed must be such that you can come to a stop within the distance over which you have clear visibility (RVV 1990 art. 19). At 60 metres of visibility, this means slowing down considerably. High beam is also inadvisable in fog, as the light reflects back and worsens visibility.NL: Zo langzaam rijden dat je binnen die 60 meter tot stilstand kunt komen Source: RVV 1990 art. 19
3D traffic situation for question 2

2. The barriers are up, but on the far side of the level crossing traffic is at a standstill. What do you do?

Explanation: You must never drive onto a level crossing if you cannot clear it completely; you may never come to a stop on the tracks. So wait until the far side is free.NL: Wachten vóór de overgang tot er aan de overkant genoeg ruimte is Source: RVV 1990 Art. 6 / CBR — spoorwegovergang
3D traffic situation for question 3

3. The red flashing lights at a level crossing go out and the barriers start to rise, but then the lights begin flashing again. What do you do?

Explanation: As long as the red lights flash or the barriers are not fully up, keep waiting; a second train may follow immediately after the first.NL: Ik blijf wachten; er kan een tweede trein aankomen. Source: CBR kennis — spoorwegovergang (tweede trein)
3D traffic situation for question 4

4. You are driving at night on an unlit road. Why must you never drive faster than the speed at which you can stop within the reach of your headlights?

Explanation: Adjust your speed so you can stop within the illuminated part of the road; otherwise you see an obstacle too late to brake in time.NL: Anders zie je een obstakel pas als het te laat is om nog te stoppen Source: CBR kennis — rijden in het donker
3D traffic situation for question 5

5. You are driving at night on an unlit road outside the built-up area. When may you keep your high beam on?

Explanation: High beam is only allowed when it dazzles no one; for oncoming traffic and when following closely you switch to dipped beam (RVV 1990 Art. 32).NL: Alleen als je er geen tegenliggers of voorliggers mee verblindt Source: RVV 1990 Art. 32 (grootlicht)
3D traffic situation for question 6

6. It has frozen and the sun has come out. Which stretch of road stays slippery the longest?

7. On the motorway you enter a lit tunnel. What do you do with your lights?

Explanation: In a tunnel dipped headlights are always mandatory, even if the tunnel is lit, so you stay visible to others.NL: Dimlicht aanzetten Source: RVV 1990 art. 32 (verlichting in tunnel)
3D traffic situation for question 8

8. An oncoming driver forgets to dip and dazzles you. May you use your own high beam so they get dazzled too and dip down?

Explanation: Never dazzle back: then no one can see anything. Look at the right edge of the road, slow down and keep driving on dipped beam.NL: Nee Source: RVV 1990 art. 32 (groot licht / verblinding)
3D traffic situation for question 9

9. It is raining hard and your visibility is dropping. May you now switch on your rear fog light?

Explanation: The rear fog light is only allowed in fog or snowfall with visibility under 50 metres, not in rain, because it would dazzle the traffic behind you.NL: Nee Source: RVV 1990 Art. 34 (mistachterlicht)

🌉❄️🥶In frost, bridges and viaducts freeze first: cold air flows under them too.

Picture a bridge that's cold from BELOW and ABOVE — so it puts on its ice-coat first. The road on the ground has the warm earth as a blanket; the bridge dangles in the air and shivers first.

🚗💦🏄Aquaplaning: at higher speed on a wet road the tyres lose grip and the car 'floats' on water. Reduce your speed.

The faster you go, the more your car becomes a SURFBOARD: the tyres can't push the water away and you surf on, unable to steer. Ease off the gas = the board sinks back into the sea and grips again.

🌫️🔦2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣In fog that seriously reduces visibility (rule of thumb < 200 m) you may use front fog lights; the rear fog light may ONLY be on when visibility < 50 m.

Count the zeros like football pitches: at 200 m the FRONT lamp may go on, but the fierce REAR lamp is so blinding you may only use it when fog nearly swallows you — 50 m. Front = far (200), Rear = right-in-your-face (50).

🌬️🌉🚚Cross-wind is strongest on open roads, bridges and at forest edges/viaducts; hold the wheel firmly and watch for overtaking trucks.

On the open road the wind is an invisible GIANT shoving your car — but behind a passing truck he vanishes for a second, then SMACKS you back the moment you clear it. Grip the wheel like a helmsman in a storm.
